Chinggis Khaan was not a “mindless barbarian”. Through sheer will and charisma he was able to unite all the steppe tribes into a single nation - Mongolia. As if that was not enough, he went on to conquer most of Eurasia. He was the emperor of the nation that would become the largest contiguous empire in the world. He started with less power and land compared to any other notable leader in history - including Caesar, Alexander, and Napoleon - and achieved more (understatement!).

 

Throughout his conquests, he encouraged trade, the spread of ideas, and religious tolerance.
